Renewable Energy and UPS
A hands-on, video-led course on solar PV and wind energy systems and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) — covering generation, batteries, charge controllers, inverters, sizing, installation and backup-power topologies…
About This Course
This course equips mechatronics technicians with the practical skills to design, install, operate and maintain small renewable-energy systems and uninterruptible power supplies. Starting from how a photovoltaic cell and a wind turbine convert natural energy into electricity, it builds up through the core components of a solar power system — panels, batteries, charge controllers and inverters — to complete off-grid, grid-tied and hybrid installations sized for real Nigerian homes and workshops.
The second half focuses on uninterruptible power supplies: how standby, line-interactive and online (double-conversion) UPS units protect sensitive loads, how to size a UPS in VA and watts, and how to maintain its battery bank. Because Nigeria suffers frequent grid outages and voltage instability, these skills are in high demand. Workshops emphasise safe wiring, system sizing, testing and fault-finding to prepare students for entry-to-intermediate roles installing and servicing solar and backup-power systems.
