About This Course

This course focuses on the study, operation, maintenance and lubrication of mechanical drive components such as shafts, couplings, V-belts, chains, bearings and gear drives that are commonly used in industry. It covers their design, construction, materials, applications, installation and maintenance procedures, with practical workshop sessions that emphasise testing, dismantling, assembly, alignment and installation to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Delivered over an intensive two-week (80 hour) schedule, the course equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to understand, install, maintain and lubricate mechanical drive components, observe safety precautions, and develop innovative maintenance techniques for real industrial applications. On completion the technician should be able to design, install, maintain, lubricate and troubleshoot mechanical drive systems while adhering to recognised safety and lubrication practices.
