About This Course

This course studies the mechanical drive elements that transmit power through industrial machinery – shafts, couplings, V-belt drives, roller-chain drives, gear drives and bearings – together with the lubrication that protects them. It explains how each drive works, how to install, align, tension and maintain it, and how friction, wear and the correct lubricant decide whether a machine lasts for years or fails in weeks.

Delivered as an intensive 40-hour week (eight hours a day for five days), the course pairs short teaching videos with in-class practice and practical assignments covering belt tensioning, sprocket and sheave alignment, bearing mounting, greasing and gearbox oil changes. On completion the technician should be able to select, install, align, lubricate and maintain common mechanical drive systems safely, and apply correct lubrication and contamination-control practices in a real plant.
