About This Course
Industrial Safety is designed to enable students to understand and apply safety and hygiene rules in industrial environments and to intervene effectively on an accident scene by applying first aid techniques and calling for rescue. Over 40 intensive hours across one week, learners build the knowledge and practical skills needed to ensure a safe working environment and to be prepared for emergencies.
The course equips students to maintain health and safety in industrial settings, recognise and mitigate workplace hazards, use protective equipment correctly, and respond to accidents with appropriate first aid and rescue procedures. Every topic is tied to the real responsibilities a mechatronics technician carries on the workshop floor and in the field.
Course Content
Safety Responsibilities and Accident Prevention
Know who is responsible for safety and how accidents are prevented. You will learn employer and employee duties, the human and environmental conditions that cause workplace accidents and how to control them, and how to select the right protective clothing and equipment — including recognising dangerous clothing and machinery hazards.
Manual Handling, Lifting, and Ladder Safety
Handle loads and heights without injury. This module covers safe manual-handling technique, the correct use of mechanical lifting equipment and accessories, the dangers of faulty or misused lifting aids, and the precautions for transporting and working on ladders.
Electrical and Fire Safety
Respond to the two most dangerous workshop hazards. You will identify electrical dangers and how the body becomes part of a circuit, the procedure for freeing a person from a live supply and the importance of earthing, then the types and use of fire-fighting equipment and evacuation procedures.
Chemical Safety and Industrial Hygiene
Work safely around chemicals and keep the workplace clean. This module covers precautions against contact with toxic materials, liquids, dust and fumes, the safe pressure-testing of low-pressure systems, and the housekeeping practices that maintain industrial hygiene.
First Aid, Risk Assessment, and Accident Reporting
Be ready when an accident happens. You will learn first-aid procedures for industrial accidents, how to carry out a risk assessment and prepare accident reports, and consolidate the safety practices from across the course for the final practical and written assessment.
