About This Course

The Orientation Programme is the gateway course that every new IIT trainee completes before specialist technical training begins. Over 40 intensive hours across one week (eight hours a day for five days), it sets clear expectations, builds the personal mindset and learning habits a demanding technician programme requires, and grounds trainees in the safety culture and professional conduct of an industrial workshop.

The course moves from the inside out: first the mindset for success (growth mindset, professionalism and SMART goal-setting), then the practical skills of learning to learn (study skills, time management and focused work), then the non-negotiables of workshop safety, housekeeping and discipline, and finally an inspiring introduction to mechatronics and the career ahead. Every topic is tied to what a Nigerian mechatronics technician actually needs to thrive at IIT and in industry.
